The Atkins Diet Seems To Never Go Away

Fad diets come and go, but The Atkins Diet, a high-protein, low-carbohydrate weight-loss plan, seems never to go away, no matter how many medical professionals denounce it.

“Low-carb diets have been linked to increased frequency of colon cancer, formation of kidney stones, kidney disease, and even osteoporosis,” says Neal Barnard, MD, president of the Physicians Commission for Responsible Medicine, a nonprofit research group based in Washington. “The weight loss you see in low-carb diets isn’t all that much better than what you see in studies of low-fat, vegetarian diets.”

In the past, it has become a household way of life to eat bread, rice, fruit and other healthy foods that are supposed to help you lose weight. Dr. Atkins began a journey in the early 70’s that was going to change all of that. Any diet that puts eggs, cheese, and meat before the aforementioned “healthy foods” is complete and utter blasphemy.

Tip! Pre-maintenance - During this stage of Atkins diet meal plans, the rate of fall of body weight will be slower. Also, you can experiment various other foods to see whether they add your body weight or not.

The diet I recommend for great weight loss that is accompanied by working out is low carbohydrate, high protien and healthy oils. The days of just eating meat and cheese were a quick and unhealthy idea for weight loss, this is why. Red meat and cheese have a lot of saturated fat and cholesteral. This is what I call “heart stoppers”. You will lose weight, though. The reason you lose weight, even with bad fats, is you put your body into a state of ketosis. This state is where your body looks for carbs and sugars to burn first. When it doesn’t find them it will attack your fat in deperation causing quick fat burn. The problem is you are only feeding you body atery clogging food. Good fats like omega 3 and monounsaturate fats will give your body the energy it needs and not clog up your ateries. These good fats are found in fish, nuts, and olive oils. I list them because they are equally low in carbs. This will cause your body to burn fat. The next type of food you need is the high protiens to feed your growing muscles. Great high protein meals include tuna, chicken, nuts and eggs. I also choose to list these foods specifically because they are low in fat and huge in protien.
